Refund Policy
Last updated: 30 September 2026
1. Scope
This Refund Policy explains when payments to [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, e.g. Kareer Score, Inc., a California corporation] (“Kareer Score,” “we,” “us”) for the Kareer Score platform are refundable. It covers two kinds of charges: recurring Premium subscription fees (monthly or annual, as described on the Premium page) and one-time resume-tailoring token purchases. It supplements, and does not replace, the payment terms in our Terms & Conditions. This policy is written to comply with California's Automatic Renewal Law (Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code §§ 17600–17606, including its “click to cancel” amendments) and the Consumers Legal Remedies Act (Cal. Civ. Code § 1750 et seq.). If you are a resident of another state or country, additional consumer-protection rights may apply to you and are not limited by this policy.
2. General rule: fees are non-refundable
Except as described in this policy or where required by law, all fees, including subscription charges already billed and resume-tailoring token purchases, are non-refundable, including for partial billing periods, unused features, or a decision to stop using the Platform. This is disclosed to you before you enter payment details, as required under California law.
3. Free trial & first charge notice
New eligible members receive a free trial of Premium with no card required, as described on the Premium page. If you add a payment method during or after the trial, you will see the exact price and billing frequency before you are ever charged. Because our trial period runs longer than 30 days, California law requires that we send you a clear notice, with an easy way to cancel, before your first charge following the end of the trial. We do this by email in advance of that charge. If you cancel before that first charge takes effect, you owe nothing.
4. Cancelling a subscription
You may cancel your Premium subscription at any time from the Billing page (Manage billing). Cancelling is at least as easy as subscribing. It takes a few clicks, with no requirement to call, chat with a retention agent, or navigate a maze of screens, as required by California's “click to cancel” rule.
Cancelling stops future renewals but does not refund the current billing period: you keep Premium access through the end of the period you already paid for, and your subscription simply does not renew afterward. We do not prorate or refund the unused portion of a billing period when you cancel partway through it.
5. Annual plan renewal reminder
If you are on an annual Premium plan, California law requires us to send you a reminder before your card is charged again for the next year. We will email that reminder between 15 and 45 days before the renewal date, with a direct link to cancel. If you do not cancel before the renewal date, the annual fee is charged and is non-refundable under Section 2 above, except as described in Section 7.
6. Resume-tailoring tokens
Resume-tailoring tokens are purchased individually (not a subscription), are consumed as described on the resume-tailoring feature, and do not expire. Because each token purchase is a discrete, one-time transaction rather than a recurring charge, California's Automatic Renewal Law does not apply to it. Token purchases are non-refundable once completed, whether or not you ultimately use the tokens, except where required by law or as described in Section 7.
7. When a refund is required or available
We will refund a charge, in whole or in part, when:
- You were charged due to a billing error, duplicate charge, or a charge that does not match the price we disclosed to you before purchase;
- You were charged after cancelling, or after a free trial ended without the required advance notice under Section 3;
- You were charged for an annual renewal without receiving the reminder required under Section 5;
- Your account was compromised and a charge was made without your authorization, once we verify this; or
- A refund is otherwise required by California or other applicable law.
Outside of these situations, refunds are given at our discretion (for example, as a one-time courtesy), not as an entitlement.
8. How to request a refund
Contact us via the Contact page or legal@kareerscore.com as soon as you notice an issue, and include the email address on your account and the approximate date and amount of the charge. We aim to acknowledge refund requests within 5 business days and resolve them promptly. Approved refunds are returned to the original payment method through our payment processor (Stripe); we do not issue refunds by cash, check, or to a different payment method.
Please contact us before filing a chargeback with your bank or card issuer. Most billing questions can be resolved faster this way, and an unresolved chargeback may result in suspension of your account while it is investigated.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by an updated date at the top of this page, and where a change would reduce your refund rights for an active subscription, we will provide additional notice (e.g. email) before it takes effect for you.
