Privacy Policy
Last updated: 11 September 2026
This policy explains how [LEGAL ENTITY NAME, e.g. Kareer Score, Inc., a California corporation] (“Kareer Score,” “we,” “us”), headquartered in California, United States, collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data when you use the Kareer Score platform (“the Platform”).
1. What we collect
- Account data: email, hashed password (or, if you sign up with Google, your Google account ID instead of a password), role, membership tier
- Profile data: name, headline, skills, location, bio, resume file
- Verification data: scores and references submitted by companies
- Hiring outcomes: when an employer confirms they hired someone for a posting, we record that confirmation (which application, which job, when)
- Usage data: AI feature usage and cost (tokens, feature used), for rate limiting and billing
- Payment data: handled directly by Stripe (we store subscription status and a wallet token balance, not card details)
- Technical data: IP address, browser/user agent, device/log data, cookies and similar technologies (see our Cookie Policy)
- Communications: messages you send through the Platform, and contact-form submissions
We do not intentionally collect Social Security numbers, government ID numbers, precise geolocation, or health information. Please do not include this kind of sensitive information in your resume, bio, messages, or other content you submit. Treat any free-text field as visible to the counterparties that field is meant for (e.g. an employer, a recruiter), not as a secure vault.
2. How we use it
We use personal data to:
- Provide the Platform: profiles, scores, references, search, job matching
- Power AI features you use (resume rating, resume tailoring, interview coaching, semantic search)
- Process payments and enforce free-tier usage limits and paid membership entitlements
- Communicate with you (account notices, billing notices, replies to contact form submissions)
- Maintain security, detect fraud, and prevent abuse
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms
Learning from confirmed hires. When an employer confirms a hire, our AI analyzes the resume that led to it to identify general patterns for that job field, such as commonly listed skills, certifications, or resume structure. These patterns are folded into an aggregated, anonymized summary for that field. No individual resume text, name, or other identifying detail is ever stored in that summary or shown to another user. That anonymized summary is then used to give other job seekers targeting the same field better AI resume feedback. You can ask us to exclude your resume from this process at any time via the Contact page.
3. Legal basis (UK/EU visitors)
Kareer Score is built and operated for a US audience and headquartered in California; we do not direct the Platform at, or knowingly collect data from, residents of the UK or European Economic Area. If you access the Platform from there anyway, note that we process data under: contract (to provide the service you signed up for), consent (e.g. non-essential cookies), and legitimate interest (security, fraud prevention, service improvement). You can withdraw consent at any time where consent is the basis.
4. Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data. To exercise any of them, contact us via the Contact page or Support@KareerScore.com; submitting the request while signed in helps us verify it's really you. We will respond within the time required by applicable law (generally 45 days for California requests, extendable once by 45 more days when reasonably necessary).
- California (CCPA/CPRA) and similar US state laws: the right to know what personal data we collect, use, and disclose about you; the right to delete it; the right to correct inaccurate personal data; the right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal data (see below; we do not sell or share your data); the right to limit use of sensitive personal information (we don't use sensitive personal information beyond providing the service you asked for); and the right to not be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights.
- UK/EU (GDPR), if applicable to you: right to access, rectification, erasure, portability, restriction, and objection, plus the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
California Shine the Light law. California Civil Code §1798.83 lets California residents ask what personal information we've shared with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes in the past year. We don't do this. We don't share personal information with third parties for their own marketing.
5. Do we sell or share your data?
No. Kareer Score does not sell personal data for money, and does not use personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising, so we do not “sell” or “share” personal data as those terms are defined under California and similar state privacy laws. If our practices ever change, we will update this policy and our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Data page first. That page also explains how we automatically honor the Global Privacy Control browser signal as a valid opt-out request, as required by California law.
6. Who we share data with
We share data with service providers who help us run the Platform, each bound by a contract that restricts their use of it to providing that service to us:
- Hosting: Hostinger (application hosting)
- Database & file storage: Supabase
- AI processing: Anthropic (Claude), for resume rating, resume tailoring, interview coaching, job matching, and semantic search. Content you submit to these features is sent to Anthropic to generate a response
- Payments: Stripe (subscription billing and wallet token purchases; Stripe handles your card details directly and we never see or store full card numbers)
- Transactional email: our email delivery provider, for account and billing notices
- Bot/abuse protection: Cloudflare Turnstile, on signup and contact forms
We may also disclose data where required by law (e.g. a valid subpoena or court order), to protect the rights, safety, or property of Kareer Score or others, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets (with notice to you where required by law).
7. Cookies
We use essential cookies required for login (the refresh token that keeps you signed in) and, where you consent (or don't opt out), non-essential cookies for analytics. See our Cookie Policy for the full list and how to control them, including via the Global Privacy Control browser signal.
8. Data retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, profile data is removed within a reasonable period (generally 30 days), except where we're required to retain records (e.g. billing history, records needed to resolve disputes or comply with law) for longer. Aggregated, de-identified data (e.g. the anonymized hiring-pattern summaries described in Section 2) is not tied to your account and is not deleted when you delete your account, since it no longer identifies you.
9. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards (encryption in transit, hashed passwords, access controls) to protect personal data. No system is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we experience a data breach affecting your personal data, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
10. International transfers
The Platform is operated from the United States and intended for a US audience. If you access it from outside the US, your data will be processed in the US and possibly other countries where our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your own country.
11. Children's privacy
Kareer Score is not directed at children under 16, and you must be at least 16 to create an account (see our Terms). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13; if we learn we have, we will delete it. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us personal data, contact us via the Contact page.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be flagged on this page with an updated date, and where the change is significant, we will provide additional notice (e.g. email or an in-app notice).
